The cinnamon and black tea notes give way to gentle flavors of cherry preserves and plum coulis.  Offers a lightly toasted, silky-edged finish.  Drink now through 2015.

Along the same lines, yet with a slightly more modern feel, the 2012 Vacqueyras Vin Rare (65% Grenache and 35% Syrah) spent 14 months in 20% new French oak. Wearing its oak elevage nicely, with creamy raspberry, sweet oak and licorice-driven aromas and flavors, it has additional mid-palate depth and richness when compared to the Grand Vin. Also well-balanced, with bright acidity, it should benefit from a year or two in bottle and drink well for 10-12 years.
